We also can help our friends when we have gone through a problem – we can show them there is light at the end of the tunnel we can show them how to get through the problem quickly to admit it’s a problem and maybe repent.

And we know what Jesus did while on earth, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised Lazarus from death, confounded the educated, re – educated the Church leadership even though he hadn’t a first class honours education.

What did Jesus say to the disciples?  What did Jesus promise?

That they should wait together until they received power from on high to be his witnesses Luke 24:49

What happened they received the power of God the Holy Spirit and they spread the Christian message in Jerusalem, Judea and the entire world and it is still spreading today.  

In the lectionary reading of today Acts 8:14 Peter and John were sent to Samaria and the disciples there had been baptised but when the disciples went there they received the Holy Spirit.  

When Peter spoke up in Acts he said that it was prophesied that all people will be able to receive the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:17. 17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,

What do you need now?  What can God do for you?  What power do you need in your situation are you in the centre of a problem at the moment do you need God’s help?  Do you need God’s way out?

Are these problems of your own making?

Are you sat on your pity pot?  Oh woe is me!

Are you reading your bible, doing your quiet time?

Have you made a wrong turn are you suffering for a bad decision, God knows!

Do you need power from above?  Do your need God’s help to help you get on course with him?

Jesus high priestly prayer John 17:20

Are you trying to B and Q it do it yourself when you need to repent and ask for power from above.
